Photo by Ryder Larsen Red River Settlement (Winnipeg) 1866-1870 Larsen immigrated from Norway to work for the HBC, and would become one of the first photographers in Red River. He photographed most of the famous figures in early Manitoba and his works are highly valued. He was also a notorious alcoholic and brawler who was accused of using his photo lab to make counterfeit currency.

Photo by Simon Duffin (Duffin & Co.) Winnipeg 1874-1875 This boy is probably the son of an HBC trader, and might be related to the McMurray or McDonald families.
He's wearing a distinctively Red River style outfit: A full suit and tie along with a blanket coat, embroidered moccasins, and a ceinture fléchée. |

Photo by Steele & Co. Winnipeg 1891-1912 Sybil was the daughter of Hon. Colin Inkster who inherited his home, Bleak House. She lived from 1880-1974 and worked as a teacher.
