After Confederation in 1867, the old Province of Canada was divided into Ontario (previously Canada West) and Quebec (previously Canada East).

Other than Queen of the United Kingdom, Victoria was also Empress of the largest colonial empire to ever exist. She was a living symbol of British power, and statues (such as the one that stood at the Manitoba legislature until 2020) often show her holding the globe in her palm.
